Philip’s account of 3-MMC addiction

Philip said his use of 3-MMC began occasionally on nights out but gradually increased to several grams over a weekend and more at festivals. He said the drug gave him immediate energy, especially when combined with alcohol, but that regular use eventually left him feeling empty and mildly depressed. He stopped using almost immediately and said he was surprised by how manageable that was.

He also said that substances sold as 3-MMC are almost never actually 3-MMC, based on testing of samples submitted for analysis. The account said the Dutch government had placed designer drugs on the Opium Act list in July 2025 to prevent producers from making small changes to banned substances and selling them legally. Philip said enforcement remained difficult because new dealers could quickly replace those who stopped, while better information and awareness could help users recognize the risks.
