The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee found a truck on the emergency lane near the Zaarderheiken junction on the A67, near Venlo, during the night of 12 to 13 October. Its driver and co-driver fled when an officer stopped to offer assistance, leaving the engine running. A search did not find them.
An investigation found that the truck had false French registration plates and was carrying electric toothbrushes and shavers stolen from another truck in Venlo that night. The cargo was estimated at €90,000. The truck, trailer and cargo were seized, and the goods were returned to their owner; the suspects have not been found.
