New York City FC fired head coach Pascal Jansen after the club's Major League Soccer playoff campaign. The 53-year-old Dutchman had led the team since January 2025, having previously coached AZ from 2020 to 2024.

New York City FC finished 11th in the Eastern Conference this season and qualified for the playoffs. In Jansen's first season, the team reached the Eastern Conference final, where it lost to Lionel Messi's Inter Miami.
