Arrest of Pakistani man over alleged US postal fraud

Pakistani authorities arrested 33-year-old Faheem Akram after a week-long manhunt over allegations that he ran a website selling forged US Postal Service shipping labels. He was charged in Florida, and US prosecutors alleged that the scheme caused losses of more than $126 million.

Investigators said the site operated from August 2023 until September and sold labels, generally for $2, to thousands of customers regardless of package weight, size or destination. A single report said Akram used 16 bank accounts, some registered to relatives. It remains unclear whether he will be extradited to the United States or tried in Pakistan.
