Mirjam Fagel, the Party for the Animals' sole member of the Provincial Council of Overijssel, left the party with immediate effect and retained her seat while joining the SP. Her departure means the Party for the Animals no longer has representation in the Overijssel Provincial Council.

The move was attributed to differences of opinion. One report said Fagel objected in part to the party, originally pacifist, seeking increased defence spending.
