The bicycle parking facility under Stationsplein at Utrecht Central, which has space for more than 12,500 bicycles, was regularly reported to be full. Hundreds of bicycles were parked outside the racks. The municipality of Utrecht said the crowds were increasing and was working with Nederlandse Spoorwegen and ProRail on an expansion.
