Oss men's fashion store reaches its centenary

A men's fashion store founded by Hendrik Willem Wehberg in Oss in 1926 reached its centenary. His great-grandson, 53-year-old Wouter Wehberg, is the fourth generation to run the business, which has operated from several locations and is now based at Walplein. The store continued operating during the Second World War, when customers often paid for clothing in weekly instalments, and survived the coronavirus closures after moving to its current premises.

The centenary was to be marked with a modest celebration attended by the mayor of Oss. The business might also receive the designation of purveyor to the Dutch court, although that had not yet been confirmed. Wehberg said it was still uncertain whether another family member would eventually take over the store. He also said the business supports local clubs and organisations and that he is not particularly concerned about competition from online clothing sales.
