Orphan girls return to Amsterdam through a painting shown at PAN

At the PAN art fair in Amsterdam, an American trader presented a large painting by Therèse Schwartze from 1889 depicting orphan girls who once lived in the historic building that now houses the Amsterdam Museum. The former civil orphanage can now face the canvas, although the painting had not yet definitively been sold.

PAN managing director Mark Grol said that many works had been sold immediately at the start of the fair, including the painting almost, but not yet conclusively.
