Neighbors and nearby poultry farmers opposed plans by the municipality of Coevorden to legalize Akka’s Goose Paradise, a goose shelter on Burgemeester Ten Holteweg in Dalen. They cited concerns about avian flu, nuisance and animal registration. Poultry farmers said they were particularly worried about the risk of avian flu because the shelter is not subject to mandatory registration, and said this causes major stress at surrounding farms.
