NS said that average prices for train tickets and most subscriptions will rise by 4.7 percent from January 2027. One report said OV-fiets prices will also increase. NS said the revenue is needed for new trains, higher costs and continued investment in facilities.

NS plans to raise the maximum discount on special off-peak tickets from 60 to 80 percent and make those tickets available on the day of travel rather than requiring booking a day ahead. Railrunners and the free Kids Free and Dal Voordeel subscriptions for young people remain unchanged. Traveller organisation Rover said it accepts inflation being passed on but opposes a further one-percentage-point catch-up index.
