North Holland plans investigations into wildlife damage and goat-farming rules

The Provincial States of North Holland unanimously supported a Volt motion asking the umbrella organisation of the provinces, IPO, and implementation organisation BIJ12 to examine whether drones, satellites and other digital techniques could make investigations into damage caused by animal species to crops and nature more effective and efficient. North Holland will also investigate the impact on the province of the cabinet’s plan to set a 500-metre distance between goat farms and cultivation. Many provinces halted new or expanding goat farms years ago as a precaution over health risks; people living nearby are, for example, more likely to develop pneumonia, according to the account.
