North Holland knitting day

NH Radio has announced a knitting day on 2 December in Theater & Studio De Vioolkist in Hilversum, where participants will knit scarves together using wool from North Holland sheep. The initiative began with a question about what happens to the region’s sheep wool and grew into a movement involving around 1,000 people, including participants from abroad. The wool from shepherd Marijke Dirkson’s sheep in Burgerbrug is washed and processed at a specialist facility in Friesland before being used for knitting.
Both experienced knitters and beginners can register, but places are limited and registration does not guarantee participation. Radio, online and television recordings will be made during the event, and the proceeds from the scarves will go to charity. More details about the programme are still to follow.
