Bankruptcy of au pair agency Nina Care

The Haarlem court declared au pair agency Nina Care bankrupt after a former employee, who is owed tens of thousands of euros in wages, filed for bankruptcy. The company had previously faced financial difficulties.

Nina Care had come under scrutiny over reported abuses involving the screening and placement of au pairs. The Immigration and Naturalisation Service withdrew its licence, meaning it could no longer recruit au pairs from outside the EU. The founders, sisters Jasmine and Lyla Kok, had said they intended to make a fresh start.
