Housing corporation Mercatus reported that 17 new social rental homes are being built in Noordoostpolder: eight life-proof homes in Creil and nine single-family homes in Rutten. The homes in Creil are part of the expansion of Creil-East and are intended for single and two-person households aged 55 and over. They are designed so residents can continue living there as they grow older. The homes are located at the Roofslager.

The nine homes in Rutten are at the corner of Meerweg and Buitenom and are intended for households of three or more people and residents of all ages. Construction in Rutten has started, while construction in Creil is scheduled to begin in week 46. The homes are expected to be completed in spring 2027.
