Najib Razak’s transfer to house arrest

Former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak met the financial condition of a royal pardon after his political party paid a fine of more than €11 million, which the party said it had raised through fundraising. The pardon allows the 73-year-old to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.

Reports differed on his immediate status: two said his lawyer confirmed that he was on his way home, while another said it was still unclear when he would leave prison. That report said officers had been deployed outside his home and the road to it had been closed.
