About 150 Muslims gathered to pray outside the town hall in Maarssen in a peaceful protest over the lack of an Islamic centre. The community has reportedly been seeking a location for one for 14 years and feels opposed by the municipality of Stichtse Vecht, describing the situation as administrative unwillingness.
The protest was intended to draw attention again to the community’s demand for an Islamic centre and its view that it deserves the same rights as everyone else.
