Money-laundering and tax-fraud trial involving former Megahome owner

Former Megahome owner Willy W. from Zenderen is on trial on suspicion of laundering €29 million through the Sports Promotion Foundation Kraggenburg and evading €1.5 million in corporate tax through allegedly false invoices. Prosecutors allege that large sums were transferred through accounts connected to his family. W. remained silent during the proceedings.

Former Megahome director Adri N. from Kraggenburg, initially also a suspect, reached an agreement with the Public Prosecution Service. The criminal case follows the 2016 bankruptcy of Megahome, which left debts reported at between €260 million and €268 million and has led to extensive civil proceedings.
