Nationalist parties win Bosnia and Herzegovina elections

6 sources

Nationalist parties won elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with voting largely following ethnic lines. Milorad Dodik, leader of the Bosnian Serbs, was not a candidate but emerged as a leading winner: candidates backed by him won more than half the vote for the country’s three-member presidency and for Republika Srpska. His SNSD party remains in power in the Serb entity. The results leave the country’s deep political divisions in place and are expected to make governing difficult. Turnout was reported at a historic low of 41 percent.
