The military court sentenced 23-year-old soldier Benjamin B. from Zeewolde to 240 hours of community service and a five-month suspended prison sentence for violence, weapons and drug offences, and causing a collision while driving under the influence. The court found that he assaulted two people after an argument in Zeewolde on 9 February 2025, assaulted two others after the Beach Festival Zeewolde on 25 May, and sprayed pepper spray at three people. A pistol with ammunition, hashish and 2-MMC were found during a search of his home in Zeewolde.
The court also ordered treatment for substance use as a condition of the suspended sentence. B. had already begun trauma therapy. He has been suspended from the Royal Netherlands Army since 2025; a later report said the conviction will cost him his job.
