Midnight bookshop openings for new Sarah J. Maas novel

Bookshops in several Dutch cities opened at midnight for the release of the sixth instalment of Sarah J. Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses series, known as ACOTAR or Hof van Doorns en Rozen. Fans who had waited five years for a new volume bought the first copies in places including Middelburg, Groningen, Deventer, Utrecht and Rotterdam, while events were also held in Enschede.

About 150, mostly young adult, customers attended events organised by Boekhandel Broekhuis in Enschede and Deventer, which included workshops and a pub quiz. The romantasy series follows 19-year-old Feyre and is popular among young readers, with BookTok cited as a factor in its visibility.
