Mexico City Grand Prix resumed after Bottas crash

The Formula 1 Grand Prix of Mexico City was stopped indefinitely on lap 46 of 71 after Valtteri Bottas crashed heavily at high speed. His Cadillac left the circuit after a front-suspension failure. Bottas appeared dazed in the cockpit but eventually got out of the car on his own.

The race resumed after a delay of about 40 minutes, with the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez hosting the event. The latest update said the race had restarted, but did not provide further details about its status.

United States Grand Prix in Austin

14 sources

Kimi Antonelli won the United States Grand Prix in Austin for Mercedes, ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Red Bull's Max Verstappen. Antonelli started from pole position, while Verstappen started second but finished third after an aggressive tyre strategy and car problems; Leclerc passed him late in the race on fresher tyres. Verstappen said afterwards that he lacked the pace to fight for victory. Antonelli met the requirement of winning to secure the Formula 1 title in Austin, but George Russell and Lewis Hamilton finished too high for the championship to be decided. Antonelli can secure his first title at the next race in Mexico; one report said ninth place would be enough.
