Maud van de Sanden, 17, from Roosendaal won the Pia Douwes Special Talent Award at the Amateur Musical Awards in Rotterdam. The award, intended for emerging young musical talent, was named after and presented by Pia Douwes.

Van de Sanden said the win came as a surprise and that she cried immediately. She has performed in amateur productions including Peter Pan, High School Musical and Grease, and said she wants to attend the Frank Sanders Academy in Amsterdam. The award offers her a preparatory course.
