The Mat ’64 train, known as the Apekop, reportedly made its final regular passenger journey on the route between Amersfoort and Ede-Wageningen via Barneveld Zuid. It departed Barneveld Zuid at 12:25 p.m. The train had returned to the timetable last year after Keolis hired one from Foundation 2454CRW because some of its trains were being refurbished and it faced a shortage of rolling stock.
The train type had previously been withdrawn from regular service by NS in 2016. The foundation is due to take the Apekop back under its own management as a museum train at the end of this year.
