Mark Diemers, 32, returned to De Graafschap two weeks ago after considering offers from clubs in what were described as exotic destinations. The Rotinier had previously played for the club and chose to return to De Vijverberg after a summer that he said had shown him a difficult side of professional football. Diemers said he had not wanted to take his children out of their familiar environment. He also said that football had become highly driven by financial considerations and that a player's quality was not the only factor involved.
