Marjolein Visser, a 37-year-old from Nijmegen, gives writing workshops to refugees in the crowded asylum centre in Ter Apel. She has processed their stories in *War You Never Survive Alone* and says she is repeatedly struck by the resilience of the human mind.

The workshops focus on how people cope while facing an apparently endless wait in the asylum centre. Visser says she has learned a great deal from the refugees she works with.
