Violence in Arnhem prompts calls to expel Syrian youth

◆1 source

Following unrest and a violent incident in central Arnhem, Mayor Ahmed Marcouch said that young Syrian asylum seekers involved in the violence should leave the Netherlands. However, a rejected asylum application does not automatically mean that someone can be returned immediately, and specific conditions apply to minor asylum seekers. Taha Barazi, a 19-year-old Syrian who came to the Netherlands as a minor and has been waiting for years for clarity about his future, condemned the violence. He said that the young people associated with the unrest did not represent him.
