A man lost a leg after he fell beneath a departing train at Heide station near Kalmthout, north of Antwerp. His backpack became caught on the train after he and a fellow passenger were reportedly removed from it, and he fell onto the tracks.

He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening condition. Train services between Kapellen and Essen were temporarily disrupted.
