Man kidnapped and assaulted after dating-app meeting

A 61-year-old intellectually limited man from Schiedam was allegedly taken from his home to Amsterdam-West after meeting someone through a dating app on the night of 19 to 20 September. He was held overnight, assaulted and filmed; parts of his hair and eyebrows were shaved. The video was posted on Snapchat. He was released the next morning and sought help from residents, who alerted the police. His family said he spent several days in intensive care and that multiple drugs were found in his blood; police are investigating whether he was drugged and what the motive was.

Two men from Amsterdam, aged 21 and 23, and a 21-year-old man from Haarlem are in custody in connection with the case and a similar alleged incident in Hilversum. All three are suspected of coercion and assault. Police have not yet identified the third suspect allegedly involved in the attack on the Schiedam man. The victim is recovering and now lives elsewhere, according to his family.
