A very large fire broke out on Thursday afternoon at business premises on Korenmaat in Assen. Thick black smoke spread over the industrial area and was visible from far away, prompting an NL-Alert. Fire crews were deployed to fight the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby premises.

The fire destroyed one company building and spread to an adjacent building. All employees present got out in time, and no injuries were known.
