The Maatwerk day-use locations of GGZ Noord-Holland-Noord in Schagen and Den Helder are due to close in January 2027. The locations have provided structure, guidance and contact for people with psychological vulnerabilities; 165 participants are affected, and it is not yet clear where they will receive support afterward. The locations have existed since 1997 in Schagen and 1990 in Den Helder.
According to the municipality of Den Helder, the GGZ no longer met the criteria required to continue providing Maatwerk. Temporary funding arrangements were made for 2025 and 2026 while a structural solution was sought. The GGZ said it regretted the decision, while the municipality said participants would continue to receive guidance until suitable follow-up support was found. The municipality and the GGZ are looking for alternatives together with the participants, but the arrangements after 15 January 2027 remain uncertain and there will not be a collective transition on one date.
