The FBI, together with an informant from criminal circles, developed Anom, an encrypted telephone service that was used by thousands of criminals in more than 100 countries. The operation used a deception method known as a honeypot. A Dutch lawyer said that not only criminals but also judges had been misled, raising questions about whether the operation was legal.
