Flávio Bolsonaro's departure from Brazil after election defeat

12 sources

Former presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro left Brazil with his wife and two daughters after losing the presidential election to incumbent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who received nearly 52 percent of the vote. Bolsonaro has not accepted the result and sought to have it invalidated. The Supreme Court had ordered Bolsonaro to surrender his passports and barred him from leaving the country as part of an investigation into suspected money laundering; he denies wrongdoing. After conflicting initial reports about his destination and route, Argentine authorities reported that he travelled via Argentina to Ecuador, and later reports showed him arriving in Miami, Florida. The United States said it intended to issue visas to Bolsonaro and his family.
