British stuntman and actor Edward Sarsfield sued August Street Films, one of the companies behind Gladiator II, seeking £200,000 in compensation for burns and permanent scarring he said he suffered while filming a scene on a burning ship. The first report gave the amount as about €240,000.

He said a gas pipeline exploded after special effects went wrong, causing what he described as unbearable pain.
