Laura Smit, 37, reportedly had a near-death experience nine years ago during the birth of her daughter Noor, when the delivery went wrong and doctors worked to stabilize her. She said the experience, which included seeing a golden light, changed her life.

Smit is married and works in youth care and mental health care.
