KNWU draws attention to its cycling safety hotline

The Dutch cycling association KNWU has drawn the attention of all its members to its hotline for reporting concerns about social safety. The move followed reporting about an alleged culture of fear at the Picnic-PostNL cycling team and is intended to make it easier to identify abuses within clubs, professional teams and competitions. The association can investigate reports and, if necessary, contact the police.
Integrity manager Roel de Krijger said the hotline had received 20 reports in 2026, twice as many as in the previous year. He said reports could lead to mediation, an investigation, referral to another institution or, where there was sufficient reason and a regulatory basis, disciplinary proceedings. Members were informed of the hotline by email and were also told they could contact a confidential adviser anonymously.
