Kimberley van der Stelt plans an eight-year running challenge for her father

Kimberley van der Stelt from Werkendam plans to run every day for eight years in memory of her father, Ron. Her mother, Jannie, died of cardiac arrest in 1997 when Kimberley was four, after which Ron raised her and her younger brother. Years later, Ron was diagnosed with colon cancer that spread to his lungs, liver and brain. He received treatment, including at a clinic in Germany, but later died after developing pneumonia.

During the final four days of the challenge, Kimberley plans to run 140 kilometres from Werkendam to the German clinic where her father was treated and died. She is raising money to build a holiday home for families with a seriously ill relative.
