Dismissal of Trump’s defamation suit over alleged Epstein birthday letter

A US federal judge in Miami dismissed Donald Trump’s $10 billion defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal, its parent company and Rupert Murdoch over an article alleging that he sent Jeffrey Epstein a sexually suggestive birthday letter in 2003. Trump denied writing the letter and called the report false and defamatory.

The judge ruled that Trump had not shown that the defendants acted with the required malicious intent. The ruling also noted that the newspaper had reported Trump’s denial of the allegation. The White House had not responded to the decision.
