Jenning de Boo had won the world sprint title and two silver medals at the Olympic Games in Milan during the 2025–2026 speed-skating season. Despite that success, the 22-year-old skater said he wanted to win Olympic gold and had set a world record in Salt Lake City as his main goal for the next season. De Boo made the comments during his Reggeborgh team's training camp in Spain, while looking back on his victory over Jordan Stolz at the world sprint championships in Thialf, where he also set a world-record total.
