The European Commission approved the acquisition of German electronics group Ceconomy, the parent company of MediaMarkt and Saturn, by Chinese e-commerce company JD.com.

A single report said JD.com had announced the roughly €2.2 billion deal the previous year and that Ceconomy has been led since this year by Dutchman Remko Rijnders.
