Italy’s government presented a budget for the following year that raises the tax burden on banks and insurers to reduce the burden on middle-income earners and self-employed people. The budget was presented by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s government.
The planned deficit is 3.4% of gross domestic product, above the European Union’s 3% limit. The government uses an exception for defence and climate spending.
