Potato traders and growers from America, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe attended this week's Potato Show in Emmeloord, where The Potato Company presented new potato varieties. Two Saudi Arabian company owners and Italian trader Ricardo Ballzucchini praised the quality of Dutch potatoes, with Ballzucchini highlighting those from the Noordoostpolder as particularly strong.

Jeldert Oenema, research and product manager at The Potato Company, said continuity in potato production was important after a difficult year worldwide. Visitors were shown test fields in a warehouse in Emmeloord, where the company reported seeing stress caused by drought, heat and excessive wetness in some areas.
