Beach IJburg has been closed to visitors since 1 October and is expected to remain closed until 1 May next year. It will not reopen in its current form: part of the beach will be moved closer to Pampuslaan, where a smaller beach will be created. The current beach is needed in the coming years as a construction and work area. Work there includes the construction of a new lock and a quay. The beach is expected to become larger again after 2031.
