Ida keeps Frank’s memory alive through school talks

Ida Welbers from Lierop recalled her husband Frank, who died of a brain haemorrhage in 2005. The couple had run café-restaurant De Monsignieur in central Asten for 11 years and had two children. After Frank suffered a second haemorrhage, doctors said he could not survive without artificial respiration, and his organs were donated after his death.

Twenty years later, Ida still misses him and speaks at schools about Frank and organ donation. She said she does this to keep his memory alive. She later closed the business, moved to Lierop and remarried, and has become a grandmother.
