HVCH coach Jurgen van Wanrooij strongly criticized his team after a disappointing first half against WEC, when the score was 1-1. The team responded after the interval and won 7-1, according to the account of the match.

A week later, HVCH was reported to have secured its first victory of the season after four defeats, winning 4-1. The match featured a goal from the team’s own half and three red cards; by the time the score reached 4-1, the opposing side had eight players on the field. Van Wanrooij said the numerical disadvantage had played a significant role.
