Huib Bruijstens, 77, cared for his wife Rudie for five years before her death, tending to her hair, makeup and laundry. He is now using his experience with dementia to help carers of Turkish and other ethnic backgrounds, saying he had not seen anyone wearing a headscarf in the room.
