Hilda Duffy set a wingwalking record at age 99

Ninety-nine-year-old British woman Hilda Duffy reportedly became the oldest wingwalker after completing a flight in Gloucestershire while strapped to the wing of a double-decker aircraft. She undertook the stunt to raise money for the local air ambulance and collected £1,300. Duffy said she was excited rather than afraid and had thought about her father during the flight.

Duffy’s flight surpassed the previous records held by 97-year-old Betty Bromage and 98-year-old Harold Heasman. Bromage, who had performed the stunt six times since turning 87, said she planned to attempt it again when she was 100 and beat Duffy’s record. Heasman had not announced his plans.
