The blue Green Walker hiking trail between Balk and Wijckel, which runs along the Sleattemer Mar, has been closed. The new owner of the land, a farmer from Tjerkgaast, closed the path across his property because, according to the account, hikers were not following the rules.

The trail was opened in 2016 by then-mayor Veenstra and the closure has disappointed hikers.
