The government placed the municipality of Heerenveen under supervision because it was not receiving enough asylum seekers. The municipality currently does not comply with the Distribution Act and is supervised by Minister Bart van den Brink of Asylum and Migration.

Enhanced supervision of municipalities over asylum reception

Minister Bart van den Brink placed a further 21 municipalities under enhanced supervision because they were not providing enough reception places for asylum seekers under the Spreidingswet. The new group includes Weert, Meerssen and Maasgouw in Limburg, and Altena, Bernheze, Bladel, Heusden, Sint-Michielsgestel and Steenbergen in Noord-Brabant. The six Brabant municipalities brought the provincial total under supervision to 13; 42 municipalities had already been under active supervision nationwide.

A total of 63 Dutch municipalities are under the supervision of asylum minister Bart van den Brink because they do not provide sufficient reception for asylum seekers. One report said five municipalities had newly been placed under supervision, while another said 21 more municipalities would soon have to report to the minister; both reports stated that 42 municipalities had already been subject to supervision.
