Foam is presenting Hometown, Chinese fashion photographer Hailun Ma’s first major solo exhibition outside China. For the photographs, Ma returned to her native region of Xinjiang. The exhibition has raised questions about whether the Amsterdam photography museum provides sufficient context for the work.
