Gouda’s forgotten tapestry tradition

◆1 source

Gouda was reported to have been a major center of tapestry production in the Northern Netherlands during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, a history that is little known. Museum Gouda director Femke Haijtema said the museum’s art historians had only recently discovered the tradition. The exhibition *Wonder Walls* is presenting this history and highlighting tapestry as a luxury product for the elite of the seventeenth century.
